MContent, the first fully decentralised content ecosystem announces the acquisition of 54 hours of content from UK factual distributor Espresso Media International, including feature docs "I am Gen Z", "Pave The Road", "My Beautiful Stutter", "The Human Trial", "American Daredevil", "Shut up Sona", crime series "Catching Killers" and documentaries "What Happened to Holly Barlett", "The Murder of Lee Irving", "Village of the Missing" and Arts docs "Iconicity", "The V & A meets Alice" and "ElioFiorucci: Free Spirit.”

The series and documentaries included in the deal will feature on MContent’s web3 video streaming platform, the world’s first 'Watch2Earn’ platform and fully tokenized collaborative content ecosystem with the purpose of seed funding, incubating and curating filmmakers and content producers around the world.

The catalogue deals set MContent on track to offer viewers over 1000 hours of content on the platform by the beginning of 2023. The business also produces original content in house and through commissions and co-productions with third party partners focusing on a Gen Z audience. MContent’s original productions include documentaries and series such as "Beirut After the Blast", "Blockchain Life", "Web3 Wonderland", metaverse dating show "Game Of Love", "Qatar Before Kickoff" and F1 fan documentary "Pit2Paddock".

MContent recently announced the appointment of former Curiosity Stream executive Brandon Fong as their new chief of streaming business. Fong will oversee MContent’s consumer facing streaming platform with responsibility for all revenue growth, marketing operations, product development, and user acquisition initiatives. He will also lead new business development and strategic partnerships that integrate MContent’s suite of web3 assets across SVOD, AVOD, FAST and transactional marketplaces. MContent is set to reveal a rebranded version of the streaming platform in mid November.

Phil McKenzie, Chief Content Officer at MContent said: "We want to thank the team at Espresso for the speed and ease in concluding this deal. It shows the ambition MContent has to acquire a substantial catalogue of titles along with commissioning exciting Gen Z shows to build a serious streaming platform. It also further cements us as the leading web3 content business. This is just the start of the intent MContent has in becoming a serious entertainment platform, and firmly cements its place as the leader in web3 content”.

David Hooper, MD of Espresso Media International said “We are very pleased to be working with MContent as a highly innovative new platform. This is an enormously exciting opportunity for ourselves and our producers. We are also very grateful to MContent to put their faith in a large cross section of our catalogue of documentary programmes including premium titles for their focus on Gen Z audiences. The slate includes social, crime, environmental, arts and cultural titles. We look forward to working with MContent on further collaborations and feel very confident that MContent will become a major platform player".
