Mega, Greece’s leading broadcaster in original drama and comedy, has launched its latest comedy series “Hotel Elvira” to strong domestic success and is now positioning it for international audiences. Premiering on October 6, the show scored an impressive 21.9% rating among viewers aged 18–54, making it the highest-rated debut for an original scripted series on Greek television this season.

“‘Hotel Elvira’ is vibrant and character-driven, rooted in Greece yet speaking to audiences everywhere. It reflects MEGA’s commitment to premium originals with a strong creative voice,” said Kostas Sousoulas, Chief Content Officer at Mega.

Set on a sun-drenched Greek island, “Hotel Elvira” follows the story of Elvira, who inherits her family's struggling seaside hotel and attempts to transform it into a destination for alternative tourism. Her ambitions face numerous challenges, including cunning rivals, unpredictable schemes, and a charismatic but mysterious investor. The series blends humor, romance, and ambition, with love and loyalty frequently put to the test.

Directed by Michalis Charalabidis, the series delivers a visually bold approach to comedy, characterized by dynamic camerawork and distinctive single-take scenes. The modern visual language and cinematic tone aim to set the production apart in the international market.

The main cast includes Michalis Leventogiannis and Eliza Skolidis, supported by Anna Kouri, Giorgos Souxes, Gal Robisa, Giorgis Tsouris, and Elpida Nikolaou. The show also features well-known Greek guest stars such as Harris Romas, Elisavet Konstantinidou, and Tonia Sotiropoulou.

As international buyers seek feel-good content with distinctive cultural backdrops, Mega is positioning “Hotel Elvira” as a prime export. Its strong domestic reception and universal themes of ambition, family, and transformation underpin its global potential.

Founded in 1989 as Greece’s first private television broadcaster, MEGA has maintained its leadership position in original scripted content. Since becoming part of Alter Ego Media in 2020, the company has focused on developing high-quality, locally resonant series with global appeal.
