Turkish distribution company Mistco announced that “Melek: A Mother's Struggle,” one of the most successful series of its catalog, will be airing on Ecuavisa in Ecuador on January 25. The drama, whose original title is “Benim Adım Melek,” has been previously sold in Peru, Spain, and the US Hispanic.

In the story, the Karadag and Sirhan families have been close for centuries. Karadag family’s daughter, a college freshman student Melek, and Sirhan family’s son, a college senior student Halil, are about to get married. Despite her unwillingness to do this, Melek cannot protest her father, as their traditions and culture stand in her way. On their engagement day, she elopes with Alpay, the man she loves, to Berlin. After this incident, the families never mention Melek’s name again. However, time changes everything and Melek is forced to return home.

“‘Melek: A Mother's Struggle’ is one of the most powerful women's stories in our library and was loved by audiences, especially in Latin America. The story is set in one of Turkey's most beautiful cities, Gaziantep, and it is a visual feast with its production quality and acting,”  commented Aysegul Tuzun, Managing Director at Mistco.
