ORF-ENTERPRISE, ORF, AND ARTE JOIN IN "WATER OF LIFE"

Austrian distributor ORF-Enterprise teams up with award-winning filmmakers Nigel Pope and Jackie Savery in the production of the blue-chip documentary "Water of Life" in co-production with ORF and ARTE. The film premiering early 2021 portrays the spectacular landscape and the fauna that surrounds a Scottish whisky distillery.

Scottish soft and special water is one of the main ingredients of Scotland's world-famous whisky. "Water of Life" follows the stories of a special cast of animals that live close to a distillery and the mountain rivers that feed it. ORF and ARTE commissioned the program recently, while ORF-Enterprise holds worldwide distribution rights. The program is scheduled for completion in April 2021.

The documentary is the most recent collaboration of ORF-Enterprise and Maramedia in a challenging year marked by the ongoing pandemic. It was created from newly produced footage and the producer’s rich archive to create a visually stunning portray of the wildlife around a Scottish whiskey distillery.

"'Water of Life' grew from our Summer Lockdown. We realised that although we were unable to travel very far, there was so much wonder in our local patch that we’d never filmed. Although the world struggled through the pandemic, it was one of the most wonderful breeding seasons in at least 20 years here in Scotland", says Nigel Pope, Founder and Creative Director at Maramedia.
