Spanish film, television and commercial production services company Palma Pictures announced the launch of a new production business dedicated to developing original scripted content. The project, which will be named Palma Pictures Studios, comes after the parent company provided end-to-end production service on shows such as “The Crown” and “The Night Manager”.

Headed up by existing Palma Pictures executives, Trent Walton and Mike Day, this new scripted division already has numerous projects on its slate after optioning a series of novels and IP.  Shows in development targeting international audiences include: “Love, Jack,” a miniseries inspired by the secret love affair between Gunilla Von Post and JF Kennedy; a Palma-set TV series based on novels by Swedish writer Mons Kallentoft; and a TV adaptation of live West End comedy show “String vs Spitta,” created and performed by Ed MacArthur and Kiell Smith-Bynoe.

“Drawing upon our Scandinavian, Spanish and British roots, we will combine the work of international authors and writers to tell nuanced local stories with global reach,”  said Trent Walton, Executive Producer at Palma Pictures Studios.

“With our experience and network borne from working with some of the world’s top filmmakers over the past 30 years, we are looking forward to creating our own originals for the first time,”  added Mike Day, Executive Producer at Palma Pictures Studios.

Palma Pictures offers production services throughout Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. The company has delivered more than 2,000 commercials and more than 25 movies and television series to clients in dozens of countries. The business offers a fully equipped 4,500 m2 studio complex, a Mediterranean production facility with a 1,000 m2 soundstage, and a list of commercial cameras, lighting, gripping equipment and usable vehicles built for their own purpose.
