SkyShowtime announced its new original series for 2024

The announcement was made by SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan and Chief Content Officer Kai Finke during a panel discussion at Content London, where they shared details about the upcoming programming.

SkyShowtime today announced its newest original series and exclusive programming that will be coming to the service in 2024. The announcement was made by SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan and Chief Content Officer Kai Finke during a panel discussion at leading industry event Content London, where they shared details about the upcoming programming. "Building on our robust 2023 slate, SkyShowtime is proud to be announcing some of the great content already planned for 2024. In addition to offering the best from Hollywood—including the critically-acclaimed SkyShowtime Original series The Curse and big box office hits such as Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One —we also offer local programming that resonates with audiences in our markets. Our new original series Veronika, as well as the critically acclaimed Polish film Kos, demonstrate our commitment to providing great entertainment and value to our members,” SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan said.

SkyShowtime will premiere the SkyShowtime Original series "Veronika," a Swedish crime thriller series with a paranormal flavour starring Nordic superstars Alexandra Rapaport (Honour) and Tobias Santelmann (SkyShowtime Exclusives Beforeigners and Welcome to Utmark, as well as Point Break and Those Who Kill). The eight-part series is created and scripted by Katja Juras and Anna Lindblom (Gåsmamman) and helmed by acclaimed director Jonas Alexander Arnby (War of the Worlds). The series was acquired from Viaplay Content Distribution and will be available to stream exclusively across all SkyShowtime markets. The premiere date will be announced next year.

SkyShowtime also shared that "The Tattooist of Auschwitz," will be branded a SkyShowtime Original and will be coming exclusively to the service in 2024 across most of its markets. The Sky production is a limited event series and is based on the globally bestselling novel by Heather Morris, and stars Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid, World on Fire) and Anna Próchniak (Baptiste, Warsaw 44) in the lead roles of Lali and Gita. Academy Award nominee Harvey Keitel (The Irishman, Youth) plays modern-day Lale and Critics Choice Awards winner Melanie Lynskey (The Last of Us, Yellowjackets) plays Heather Morris. Jonas Nay (Deutschland 83, 86, 89) also stars in the role of Stefan Baretzki. The score is composed by Multi-Academy Award® winning composer Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve and award-winning director Tali Shalom-Ezer (My Days of Mercy, Princess) directs all six episodes. It will be available to stream exclusively across the following markets: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden.

Additionally, SkyShowtime has acquired the exclusive first pay window for award-winning Polish feature film "Kos" (Scarborn), which will be branded as a SkyShowtime Exclusive. The historical action-drama will be available to subscribers in Poland and becomes the first SkyShowtime Exclusive film available to stream in market. The film was the most awarded title at this year’s Polish Film Festival, where it received nine awards including The Grand Prix-Golden Lions Award for Best Film. Directed by Paweł Maślona, the films stars an award-winning cast including Bartosz Bielenia (Corpus Christi), Jacek Braciak (Leave No Traces) and Robert Więckiewicz (In Darkness). Kos (Scarborn) is set in the spring of 1794 when General Tadeusz ‘Kos’ Kosciuszko returns to Poland to start an uprising against the Russians by mobilising the Polish nobility and peasants. A ruthless Russian cavalry captain named Dunin wants to capture the general at all costs before he causes a national rebellion. This title was acquired from Viaplay Content Distribution.

As a streaming service created specifically for Europe, SkyShowtime is committed to providing its members with programming that resonates with local audiences across its markets. These titles increase the portfolio of original and exclusive programming on offer to audiences and builds on the success of existing original series launched on the platform this year including "Bosé," "Codename: Annika," "Fleeting Lies" (Mentiras Pasajeras), "Poker Face," "The Invisible Ladies" (Las Invisibles), "The Winner" (Víťaz) and "Warszawianka." Alongside these titles, SkyShowtime will offer members even more new and exclusive series in 2024 including SkyShowtime Original Series "The Curse" and "The Envoys" (Los Enviados) (S2), as well as exclusive series "Apples Never Fall," "Halo (S2)," "Knuckles," "The Lovers," "Mary & George," "Ted" and "The Woman in the Wall."

SkyShowtime will also feature a big line-up of first-run theatrical movies and box office hits including: "Asteroid City" from Wes Anderson, "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One," and "PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie." Exact premiere dates for all of these shows will be announced at a later date.
