SkyShowtime has unveiled “The Tribute” (“El Homenaje,” working title), a new Spanish original thriller set to premiere in 2026. Filming for the eight-episode series has already concluded. Produced by Secuoya Studios and Stellarmedia, in association with SkyShowtime and Prime Video, the project reunites the creative team behind the successful SkyShowtime Original “Shades” (“Matices”), which launched earlier this year.
“The Tribute” introduces a fresh, suspense-filled narrative featuring Eusebio Poncela as Adolfo Novak, the patriarch of one of Spain’s most powerful families. Novak gathers his family and closest friends to celebrate his 80th birthday, but beneath the surface of smiles and toasts lie years of buried secrets, betrayals, and long-standing grievances. What begins as a celebration descends into chaos, culminating in revelations that exceed even the darkest suspicions.
The cast includes familiar faces from “Shades” — Miriam Giovanelli, Juana Acosta, Enrique Arce, Raúl Prieto, Luis Tosar, Luisa Mayol, and Elsa Pataky — all returning in brand-new roles. The late Eusebio Poncela appears posthumously in a leading role. New cast members include Manu Ríos, Álvaro Rico, Ángela Molina, Óscar de la Fuente, and Georgina Amorós, signaling the platform’s continued investment in high-caliber talent and original storytelling from Spain.
Sergio Cánovas returns as the writer, director, and executive producer of the series, alongside Elsa Pataky. Kai Finke, Chief Content Officer at SkyShowtime, commented: “We're excited to continue our partnership with Secuoya Studios and collaborate again with the brilliant team and talent behind ‘Shades.’ With its magnificent cast and gripping storyline, ‘The Tribute’ is a truly incredible project, and we look forward to premiering this suspenseful and intriguing show next year on SkyShowtime.”
Cánovas added, “I am delighted to work again with the wonderful cast of ‘Shades’ on a new story that will surprise the audience. ‘The Tribute’ is a new thriller where betrayal and revenge will erupt in a turbulent family story.”
Brendan Fitzgerald, CEO of Secuoya Studios, said: “With ‘The Tribute’ we reaffirm the commitment of Secuoya Studios to producing bold, high-impact stories that connect with audiences. This co-production with Stellarmedia in collaboration with SkyShowtime and Prime Video allows us to work with an exceptional creative and artistic team bringing to life a family thriller full of secrets and revelations.”
“The Tribute” is part of SkyShowtime’s growing slate of Spanish originals, which also includes the psychological thriller “Shades,” true crime series “A Recipe for Murder,” and upcoming titles “Nails” and “Road to Arcadia.” The new series underscores the platform’s continued investment in local-language content with global appeal.
