Spirit Studios has landed its first commission for Paramount's 5 with "Drunk and Disorderly: At 30,000 Feet", a compelling new documentary that investigates the alarming rise of alcohol-fuelled chaos in the skies. The film will air on 5 later this year and Orange Smarty will handle international distribution.

Narrated by Richard Arnold, this 60-minute film exposes the growing crisis of mid-air disruptions - ranging from aggressive confrontations to life-threatening behaviour - and examines the surprising ways in which the aviation industry itself may be contributing to the problem.

Featuring first-hand accounts from passengers and crew, expert insights from travel specialists Simon Calder and Jeremy Spake, and exclusive contributions from aviation insiders, the documentary delves into why these incidents are increasing and what can be done to prevent them.

Matt Campion, Creative Director at Spirit Studios, said: “We’re delighted to be working with 5 for the first time on such a relevant and eye-opening project. While mid-air meltdowns have become viral sensations on social media, this documentary goes beyond the headlines to uncover the deeper causes - some of which may be uncomfortably close to home for the aviation industry. We hope it will make viewers think twice before heading to the duty-free bar before a flight.”

Federico Ruiz, Commissioning Editor 5 & Paramount + said: “Taking the family abroad and boarding one of these flights is the stuff of nightmares. This shocking documentary will make you want to drive to your holiday destination or cancel it altogether.”
