Studiocanal recently acquired Danish comedy series "The Orchestra." Created by Sam Productions,  the comedy will launch at Mipcom next week.“The Orchestra' is a series that is near and dear to my heart, an offspring of my love for classical music," Creator, Adam Price said. "I have spent a lot of time in the world of classical music, and I noticed that an orchestra has its own ecosystem, which I couldn´t resist exploring further. I have had the pleasure of teaming up with Mikkel Munch-Fals, who took over the reins on the series and has done a brilliant job. Likewise, I am thrilled to continue my great relationship with STUDIOCANAL and I am excited to share 'The Orchestra' with the world.”

The idea that inspired "The Orchestra" was originally created by Price, a BAFTA-Award winning Danish TV creator, screenwriter and playwriter. A second series is already in development. Directed by multi-award winning Mikkel Munch-Fals, who is also head writer, with Søren Felbo and Anna Juul co-writing the comedy, other creative talent include producers Sara Namer and Johannes Rothaus Nørregaard, and executive producers Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen and Adam Price.

“We are delighted to continue our long term partnership with SAM Productions and very proud to bring this new series to MIPCOM," Francoise Guyonnet, Executive Managing Director TV said."Adam, along with Mikkel, has as usual created strong, very relatable and moving characters in this brilliantly funny and poignant drama.  It’s such a great concept: a workplace comedy taking place in what is a very intriguing and secret arena – behind the scenes of the orchestra.”

The story of The Orchestra unfolds amid struggles of power, jealousy and relationship, and the extreme pressures that are expected in a highly-professional work environment.  The title stars Frederik Cilius Jørgensen, Rasmus Bruun, Neel Ronhølt, Caspar Phillipson, Emma Sehested Høeg, and Ina-Miriam Rosenbaum. A workplace comedy set in and around the Copenhagen Symphony Orchestra,  The Orchestera sees an odd friendship develop between the newly appointed deputy director, Jeppe, and the second-chair clarinetist, the irritable loner Bo, who lives for music and who has one all-important goal; to become the first-chair clarinetist.

“'The Orchestra' is a character-driven comedy series with a dramatic undertone," Mikkel Munch-Fals said."A story about passion and ambition, about friendship and love, about loneliness and community. A series that always conveys empathy and forgiveness, regardless of how embarrassing and morally flawed the characters are. I am delighted that Studiocanal has adopted our little orchestra of misfits.”
