ZDF Studios secures deal with Sony AXN Germany for "The Window"

The ten-part football drama series is produced by Boogie Entertainment in co-production with Fuji Television Network and ZDF Studios.

ZDF Studios has sold "The Window" to Sony AXN Germany, who acquired PayTV and SVOD rights for German speaking territories“James Payne has created a superb drama giving a fascinating insight into what goes on behind closed doors. With its gripping storyline, 'The Window' isn’t just for football fans," Marius Rocholl, VP TV Content Strategy & Acquisitions at Sony Pictures Entertainment said. "And the timing couldn’t be better as we look to air the series this summer coinciding with the Women’s World Cup.”

Created and written by BAFTA and EMMY award-winning screenwriter James Payne, "The Window" is produced by Boogie Entertainment in co-production with Fuji Television Network and ZDF Studios.

Sony AXN, the action & entertainment channel of Sony Pictures, will broadcast the first season of the football drama series "The Window" as an exclusive German premiere on Thursday, 25th May at 9:10 p.m. ZDF Studios has also licensed the series to Vivacom (Bulgaria), TV4AB (Sweden), Deutsche Welle (Germany), Dubai based MBC, Keshet Broadcasting (Israel) and the global multi-platform video service Vubiquity.

The thriller takes viewers at the center of complex and dark off-field machinations of professional soccer. Set in the elite world of top level football involving players, agents, club owners, administrators and journalists, the first episode begins at the end of the English soccer season when the transfer window opens. The Window charts one summer in the life of Jordan Burdett, a 17-year-old wunderkind who is being sought after by every club in Europe. “With football being so popular all over the world, it’s not surprising that this drama has international appeal. I’m delighted that 'The Window,' our first scripted co-production with Fuji Television, will be seen by audiences far and wide," Sebastian Krekeler, Director Drama, ZDF Studios said.
