Established in 1989, Workpoint Group is a highly functional independent TV content production company in Thailand that grew into a multimedia corporation, now operating the top digital television channel, Workpoint Channel.

Workpoint Group creates, produces and broadcasts its own television entertaining formats; game show, variety, talent and family, finished programs; paranormal reality, comedy, drama and thriller, sport and documentary. “We are capable of all the process in house: from creation to pre-production and post-production,” said Pannipa Thiraphong, Senior Licensing Officer at Workpoint Group to Señal News.

The Thai company created over 150 content programs; got 5 nominees of International Emmy Awards, 22 winners of Asian Television Awards, and many runner-up and highly commended programs from Asian Television Awards. “Our company has 19 studios in the area, we are the biggest studio in Thailand for entertainment,” affirmed Thiraphong.

Currently Workpoint is focusing in variety shows. “Everyone was talking about the variety shows that we produced that is why this year we changed our strategy. Before we produced reality shows and some dramas but this year we are more focus on variety shows and entertainment programs,” explained the executive.

THE BEST FIVE

The highlights Workpoint programs for this year are: “Big Box”, “Sweet Chef”, “Who Is My Chef?”, “10 Fight 10” and “Fake Lovers”. “This year we created and produced these five programs and they got high ratings,” asserted Thiraphong.

“10 Fight 10” is a celebrities boxing show that brings the celebrities to Thailand to fight. “This year the program got a very high reputation because normally the audience is male but this time the male audience was just 52% and the female audience 48%. I think the females want to see the celebrities fighting,” opined.

The second very famous variety show of Workpoint is “Big Box”, a heart-warming game show that brings to the participant and his/her loved ones together to fight for an item each team member wishes for.  To achieve each gift, the participant and his/her loved ones must take turn to play an amusing quiz and help each other to win the prize. “This show is very easy to produce, at not a high cost and you can get a lot of sponsors and we sold it to Indonesia,” said the Senior Licensing Officer at Workpoint Group. “Also I think that ‘Big Box’ can be attractive for the international market because giving is universal. When you give, everyone is happy, you can see the reaction of the people when they got what they want,” completed.

Other of the new shows of Workpoint is “Sweet Chef”, a competition for baking dessert that allows contestants to whip up a new kind of dessert with their own creation. Each dessert will be presented to 3 judges who are professional patisserie chefs and 3 celebrity guests with a sweet tooth. But its has a twist, none of them have a clue who creates each dish and have to select the contestants based on the dishes only. “We have Sweet Chef Café in Thailand to complete the show where people can try the dish on the next day,” described Thiraphong.

Other highlight show from the Thai company is “Fake Lovers” where every couple have a story but the participant must detect whether their stories are fake or real, truths or lies. The last one is “Who Is My Chef?” that brings a new aspect of food game show, inviting celebrity guests to tastes food cooked by total strangers, without knowing whether they can cook or not.

FROM THAILAND TO THE WORLD

Workpoint Gruoup is very strong in Thailand and has also presence in Indonesia and Vietnam but the company is trying to go worldwide. “We want to launch our programs and get to be known worldwide,” affirmed the executive. “We already explored East world and we want to explore more of the West world like in Europe, in America and even in Middle East, if we can get it we will very happy because there are many opportunities for us,” said.

Thailand is a very small country in South Asia and people know it for its beautiful beaches, but Thiraphong want that peope know Thailand also for its televisión content. “Thai people is very capable of creating and making successful programs and high quality productions,” asserted. “Even though Thailand is a small country and we are struggling with the budget problem these days, we are trying hard to create things that make the difference and our content is good enough to go worldwide,” added.
