Britbox begins production for its first global commission

In addition to starting production for the pan-territory original “Murder in Provence" in the UK and France, the company has also announced new additions to its cast member list, such as Patricia Hodge and Geff Francis.

BritBox UK and BritBox North America have commenced production for its first pan-territory original “Murder in Provence" in the UK and France. The film will debut exclusively on BritBox UK and BritBox North America next year.

The  ITV Studios' Monumental Television film is being adapted for the screen by renowned playwright Shelagh Stephenson, directed by Chloe Thomas and produced by Grainne Marmion. The creatives will work alongside Alison Carpenter, Alison Owen and Debra Hayward, who will serve as Executive Producers. Stephenson and Allam also serve as Executive Producers. Overall, the project was executed in collaboration with ITV Studios, who is set to distribute it internationally.

Starring Roger Allam, Nancy Carroll and Keala Settle and based on the books by M.L. Longworth, "Murder in Provence" follows an intense investigation conducted by Antoine Verlaque. The investigation consists of Judge in Aix-en-Provence, and Criminal Psychologist, and romantic partner, Marine Bonnet as they investigate the murders, mysteries and dark underbelly of their idyllic home.

Their efforts are aided by Hélène, Deputy Police Commissioner, and Antoine’s trusted confidante. Patricia Hodge will now form part of the the cast as Florence Bonnet, Marine’s mother, and Geff Francis has taken the role of Police Commissioner François Roussel.
