Fuse Media has initiated a set of content licensing deals with Rlaxx TV and MTN, a leading South Africa telco. The agreements were brokered by Pangea. “Since deciding to enter the global marketplace earlier this year Fuse Media has very quickly grown its audience outside of the U.S.," Fuse Media CEO Miguel Roggero, said.
The deals follow a set of pre-MIPTV content licensing deals with LingoPie and Telkom SA on behalf of the Latino-owned media company, to continue the multiplatform entertainment company’s expansion into the global media market. “As rlaxx TV and MTN look to build their consumer bases, we’re excited that they’re embracing the value our authentic and inclusive original content provides,” Fuse Media Head of Digital Patrick Courtney said. “In turn, through these new agreements, Fuse is continuing to extend its reach via new media platforms – both internal and external.”
Initially Rlaxx TV will launch Fuse Backstage in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and The United Kingdom via Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV as well as smart TVs from Panasonic, LG, Blaupunkt, Hisense, Hitachi, JVC, Medion, Metz, Sharp, Telefunken, Toshiba, Grundig, and Vestel. The advertising-based video-on-demand service is also planning a market expansion into France, Spain, and Portugal by the summer.
As part of this new agreement, rlaxx TV will carry Fuse Backstage, the music-focused, free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) brand. Fuse Backstage is where artists come to play. Superstars and emerging talent light up this collection of music bios, performances, interviews, news, docs, reality shows, films, and specials. For music enthusiasts and fans of cutting-edge stories, Fuse Backstage is oversized and overstuffed with legendary artists and fresh new talent. rlaxx TV will also have access to select VOD content.
Through a licensing deal with Pangea, MTN, is licensing 100 hours of Fuse Media titles, which include “T-Pain School of Business,” “The 212” and “Big Freedia Queen of Bounce” as part of its AVOD service launch. “This exponential growth is a direct result of the positive reputation our brand has earned by closely adhering to our mission of the last 16-plus years of lifting underrepresented voices, raising awareness of critical social issues, and empowering a young, multicultural audience,” Roggero said.
