Warner Media's HBO Max and “The West Wing” creator, Aaron Sorkin announced the release of “A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote,” scheduled for this fall on the platform. “Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting ‘The West Wing’ cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election,” Sorkin said.

The show will be directed and executively produced by Thomas Schlamme. It is produced by Casey Patterson Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Unscripted Television. Aaron Sorkin, Thomas Schlamme, and Casey Patterson are the executive producers. Rob Paine is a co-executive producer. The production will strictly follow COVID Safe Way Forward Protocols.

The production intends to raise awareness of the importance of voting, and to support the nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, When We All Vote, co-chaired by Michelle Obama, which aims to increase participation in the US elections. Warner Media will make a financial contribution to the organization. “With ‘A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote,’ we are excited to revisit this legendary series and offer our passionate fans something substantial, meaningful and unforgettable, while also promoting an important message for our time,” said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max.

The original cast of the drama series reunited after 17 years to execute the production for “A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote.” It stars Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and Martin Sheen will reprise their roles from the episode. Additional cast members and special guests from the worlds of public service and the arts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Spanning seven seasons, “The West Wing” provided a behind-the-scenes perspective of the lives of an eclectic group of frenzied staffers in the Oval Office and the West Wing of the White House. In addition to the participation of the original series cast members, “A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote” will also feature special guest appearances, including a special message from Obama, among others. Some of the filmings will take place throughout the early days of October at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. The series will also feature a special theatrical stage presentation of the Hartfield’s Landing” episode from its third season.
