Loomi Entertainment Group, the creator of the upcoming Loomi App, has announced COL Group International as its official content partner ahead of the launch of Southeast Asia’s first region-wide vertical-only microdrama platform. The partnership was revealed at the Asia Television Forum in Singapore.

The Loomi App is set to go live in late December with a hybrid monetization model combining advertising-supported (IAA) and in-app purchase (IAP) revenue streams. Optimized for mobile-first viewing, the platform will diverge from traditional horizontal formats, catering specifically to vertical storytelling consumption patterns. Through the partnership, Loomi will gain access to more than 1,000 curated microdrama titles from COL’s global library, spanning genres such as romance, fantasy, thriller, and revenge .

Southeast Asia already plays a pivotal role in the global microdrama landscape, accounting for 23% of worldwide app downloads in the category. This demand is primarily driven by Indonesia, which contributes 14%, followed by the Philippines with 5% and Thailand with 4% . Despite this scale, the region has lacked a dedicated vertical platform tailored to this audience — a gap Loomi aims to fill.

“Southeast Asia deserves a platform that truly understands its audiences,” said Sharon Tse, CEO of Loomi Entertainment Group. “Through our collaboration with COL, we're bringing globally successful microdramas to local screens while empowering a new generation of regional storytellers. Loomi is not just launching content — it's building a creative ecosystem where technology, culture, and community come together.”

For COL Group International, a publicly listed Chinese media group with deep experience in microdrama production and distribution, the partnership signifies a strategic move to expand its global footprint. The company, known for developing successful platforms like FlareFlow, views microdrama as an established format. “Microdrama is no longer experimental. It’s becoming a core entertainment format, and our role is to help platforms scale, localise and grow sustainably,” said Timothy Oh, General Manager at COL Group International .

This alliance also aligns with COL’s broader global expansion strategy, which includes licensing, distribution, and building platform partnerships across Southeast Asia, MENA, and Europe. As Loomi positions itself as the first dedicated vertical drama platform in the region, this collaboration not only brings premium content to mobile users but also marks a turning point in shaping Southeast Asia’s emerging microdrama ecosystem .
