MIP Cancun has announced the addition of two high-profile sessions to complete the program for its 12th edition, taking place from 18–21 November 2025 at the Moon Palace. The new sessions reflect the growing influence of microdrama content and the creator economy in Latin America’s media landscape, with a focus on new digital formats, cross-platform monetization, and brand-funded storytelling.

“These sessions sit at the intersection of creativity, technology, and commerce, and perfectly reflect the evolution of our industry,” said María Pérez-Bellière, Director of MIP Cancun. “We are thrilled to host these discussions as part of a future-facing program that highlights the pioneers shaping Latin America’s entertainment landscape.”

Presented by Crazy Maple Studios and ReelShort, the session titled “Powering LATAM’s Micro Drama Boom” will delve into how mobile-first microdramas are unlocking new engagement and revenue streams across Latin American digital markets. Featuring Crazy Maple’s Head of Talent Relations and Brand Partnership, Sammie Hao, alongside Creative Project Manager LATAM, Marizta Castro, the session will be moderated by Head of PR Rachel Bencosme and held on Thursday, 20 October. ReelShort, the short-form content app launched in 2022, has rapidly scaled to over 50 million monthly active users across more than 160 countries, driven by strong Gen Z demand for serialized mobile content. Crazy Maple Studios, a subsidiary of Chinese tech group ICVR, is positioning itself at the intersection of interactive entertainment and mobile storytelling innovation.

On Wednesday, 19 October, the panel “Brand Build for Creators: Strategy, Authenticity and Growth” will feature Mexican influencer Carlos Islas, better known as Islas Vlogs. Represented by DW Entertainment, Islas will share his approach to scaling a personal brand and sustaining commercial relevance in an attention-driven creator economy. With over 20 million combined social media followers, Islas is among Latin America’s most recognized digital creators. The session underscores the shift from traditional entertainment pipelines toward creator-led content ecosystems, emphasizing long-term brand partnerships and strategic content development.

DW Entertainment, founded by Brenda Tubilla and Alejandra Gonzalez, specializes in managing digital-first talent and fostering partnerships between brands and creators. The agency has played a central role in bridging the gap between emerging creators and mainstream media opportunities through cross-platform storytelling.

The inclusion of these sessions rounds out a four-day agenda that positions MIP Cancun as a leading meeting point for mainstream media stakeholders and the expanding digital creator economy. Organizers report a strong increase in participation across distributors, buyers, and countries, reinforcing MIP Cancun’s status as the world’s premier marketplace for Spanish-language content and next-generation entertainment strategies.
