Warner Bros. Discovery has hired Elettra Canovi as Director of Scripted Content for Max in Italy, ahead of the streamer’s 2026 launch in the country. In her new role, she will oversee the development and production of original scripted content tailored for the Italian market, like the previously announced "Portobello", from Marco Bellocchio.

“Portobello,” which will debut on the platform in 2026, tells the story of Italian TV host Enzo Tortora, who was a victim of one of Italy’s most clamorous travesties of justice.

Canovi will report to Laura Carafoli, SVP of Content Networks and Streaming for Local Productions in Italy and Spain. Carafoli oversees a team that includes Cecilia Penati, Senior Director in charge of Unscripted for Max, along with Programming Vice Presidents Aldo Romersa and Gesualdo Vercio.

Canovi joins Max from her previous position as Head of Development at Indiana Production, where she was instrumental in the creation and execution of high-profile series such as "The Leopard" (Netflix), "Unwanted" (Sky Studios), and "Vostro Onore" (RAI Fiction).
