NETFLIX LAUNCHES E-SHOP FOR CONTENT-RELATED MERCHANDISE

The online retail store is set to launch today, offering clothing and lifestyle products from popular titles such as "Yasuke and Eden" and "Lupin," followed by products related to “The Witcher,”” Stranger Things,” and “Beams."

Netflix unveiled the launch of its online shop, Netflix.shop, set to offer content-related curated merchandise. The retail establishment is set to begin offering its products today. “We’re thrilled to give fans a new way to connect with their favorite stories, and to introduce them to the next wave of artists and designers who embrace the power of storytelling in all its forms,” the streamer wrote.

The shop will regularly offer exclusive limited editions of clothing and lifestyle products, including caps, necklaces, charms and hoodies, and more. “We love it when great stories transcend screens and become part of people’s lives,” Netflix said. “We’re always looking at how we can extend the world of our stories for fans, from apparel and toys to immersive events and games. And it’s why today we’re launching Netflix. shop as an exciting new destination combining curated products and rich storytelling in a uniquely Netflix shopping experience.”

The move follows slight revenue declines resulting from the rise in streaming competitors. The shop will also make up for the profit the streamer hasn’t earned through commercials, a strategy used by Hulu and HBO Max, among others.

Some of the items included in the launch are streetwear and action figures based on the anime series “Yasuke and Eden,” as well as limited-edition apparel and decorative items inspired by “Lupin” in collaboration with the “Musée du Louvre.” Much of the anime-inspired collectibles will be developed by designers Nathalie Nguyen, Kristopher Kites, and Jordan Bentley. 

Merchandise projects set to be released in the future include products from “The Witcher,”” Stranger Things,” and “Beams.” Operated with a set of trusted partners, including Target for Yasuke products, the shop is set to undergo a trial period before expanding to other regions outside the US.
