Nielsen's new weekly ranking of the top streaming movies and TV shows, which include Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, will now include Disney Plus and Hulu. Despite the participation of its opponents, Netflix dominated the rankings with more than 190 million subscribers. Within the list, based on the number of minutes watched for each title, the streamer accounted for 10 of the top spots. Disney Plus has 60.5 million and Hulu has more than 30 million.

States are now making an attempt to capitalize on Americans’ growing fervor for digital consumption of movies, TV, music, and other media content by taxing monthly subscriptions for streaming entertainment services, making it likely for the USD 12.99 price of the subscription to rise soon.

The list covers ranking from the week of 17th to 23rd August. "The Umbrella Academy" made first on the first list, but was defeated this week by another Netflix original, "Lucifer." The show went to number three from "The Legend of Korra," which is not a Netflix original. The Netflix original "Project Power" was the only movie on the list.

This week's list reflects the importance of Netflix's library of old TV shows is important for the streamer, though are more original programs this time. While "The Umbrella Academy" was the only Netflix original on that first list, this week includes original hits like "Lucifer" and "Teenage Bounty Hunters." "The Office" has consistently become increasingly popular on Netflix and continues to be popular with subscribers, but the series is leaving the streaming giant at the end of the year for NBCUniversal's Peacock.
