Comcast Corp. announced that its recently launched streaming service Peacock has gathered more than 15 million sign-ups since its launch, a 50% increase since 30th July, when the company last provided details.

The service accumulated more than 500,000 broadband subscribers in the current third quarter, a new record. Comcast expects to add more than 500,000 broadband users in the current quarter, Chief Executive Officer Brian Roberts said at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference.

As a result of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Comcast's EBITDA is not where the company thought it would be at this point in time. Comcast has reopened its Universal theme parks in Japan and Florida, but its California park remains closed. The Comcast CEO said the company's film and TV businesses are back to production after home restrictions cease, in November.

He also mentioned that the advertising upfront market has seen "stronger demand" than feared a few months ago, leaving him "pleased." Roberts explained that with the new structure, the company can now more flexibly determine where content it produces should go. "We are not back to where we were, but I think there are real, encouraging signs," Roberts said. "Sometimes we are going to put it on cable and Peacock, or just Peacock, all dependent on the content."
