Prime Video announced that the first season of the popular Portuguese series “Praxx” will be available in the platform on January 26, with the second season launching during February. The series, which star Madalena Almeida, João Jesus, Catarina Rebelo, Jason Fernandez, and Roberto Bomtempo, tells an impactful fictional story that reflects the insecurity of younger people, the desire for acceptance and the influence of university organizations and the value of friendship.
In “Praxx,” six university students leave for a weekend getaway to celebrate their ascension into a prestigious academic association. Fun gives way to terror when six of them drown in suspicious circumstances. Marta, sister of one of the victims, is convinced that the fatal accident was the result of hazing carried out by the association's leader and sole survivor, Gonçalo Vilar. Marta's obsession puts her on the trail of the association that wants at all costs to prevent her from getting to the truth.
Produced by SIC and Santa Rita Filmes, the six episodes series is directed by Patrícia Sequeira, who also serves as a writer along with Ana Lúcia Carvalho, and is executive produced by Susana Sequeira. The series joins the growing catalog of Portuguese content that includes series such as “Operação Maré Negra,” “Chegar a Casa,” “A Crónica dos Bons Malandros,” or documentaries such as “Factory of Dreams: Benfica” and “Quintana: Um Guerreiro Extraordinário.”
