NBC’s reality show “The Apprentice”, created by Mark Burnett, helped catapult Donald Trump from real estate mogul to TV personality. The show is now available for streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video. The company announced that the first seven seasons of the show will stream exclusively on Prime Video, with Season 1 available now and subsequent seasons released weekly. The reality series featured 16 contestants competing in various challenges for a $250,000 salary as an apprentice at The Trump Organization.

Premiering in 2004, “The Apprentice” was an immediate breakout hit, averaging over 20 million viewers in its first season and ranking in the top 10 for the 2003-04 TV season. The next two seasons remained in the top 20, but subsequent seasons saw a decline in viewership. By the time the final non-celebrity edition aired in 2010, it averaged 4.7 million viewers. Despite this decline, the show left a lasting impact on Trump’s career and became a cultural phenomenon.

The show ran for 15 seasons, with around 200 episodes aired in the U.S. It retained the “The Apprentice” name for its first six seasons and Season 10, but was rebranded as “The Celebrity Apprentice” for the remaining eight. Trump hosted all seasons except the final one, which was led by former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The show is widely credited with boosting Trump into national prominence. The early seasons drew an average weekly audience of 20 million viewers, according to Amazon. Trump left the show in 2015 to pursue his first presidential campaign but will likely benefit financially from Prime Video’s acquisition, as he also served as an executive producer on the series.
