TikTok, the leading short-form mobile video platform, which currently has more than 100 million users in Europe, incorporated the option to create longer videos, up to three minutes long, with the aim of offering the community even richer storytelling and entertainment on the platform.

The video platform has already tested the extended format option with some of its users, letting these creators from all over the world experiment with it. TikTokers are used to telling their stories in various parts. However, some users expressed their desire to have a little more time to narrate their experiences, show their cooking recipes, beauty tutorials, give educational lessons or share funny videos with the most creative tools available on the app. With longer videos, creators will have the canvas to create new or expanded types of content on TikTok, with the flexibility of a bit more space.

Over the coming weeks, the company will be rolling out the option to create longer videos to everyone on TikTok, giving its global community the flexibility to film, upload, and edit videos up to three minutes in length directly within TikTok. Once ready, they will get a notification that longer videos are now part of their creative toolbox.

“With all the ways our community has redefined expression in under 60 seconds, we’re excited to see how people continue to entertain and inspire with a few more seconds – and a world of creative possibilities,”  said Drew Kirchhoff, Product Manager at TikTok.
