Winsing Animation's animated feature "Into the Mortal World" made a successful European debut at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Its eight screenings from June 9 to 14, with English and French subtitles, have drawn over 2,800 attendees on-site, solidified its status as one of the festival’s hottest titles.

Following the screening, viewers—including animation professionals, media distributors, students, and enthusiasts—expressed deep emotional responses. Many were moved to tears. “I cried four times,” one viewer shared, touched by the sibling bond portrayed on screen. Industry insiders praised the bold storytelling, with an animator noting, “The ending wasn’t the usual sunshine and rainbows, and that’s what made it more unique and powerful.”

"Into the Mortal World" was the only Chinese film in the Official Feature Competition at the market and it is a film deeply rooted in Eastern culture, specifically blending rich Chinese mythological elements, but even those unfamiliar with Chinese mythology found themselves enthralled. "You don’t need to know the Chinese legends to understand and feel the emotion," remarked a French professional. "The story speaks in such a universal language that it crosses all cultural boundaries, which is about family and love."

Audiences also praised the film's technical and artistic achievements, comparing them to Western blockbusters, describing its visuals as “stunning,” with a beautiful integration of 2D and 3D animation. The film score, composed by renowned composer Roc Chan, further elevated the emotional impact to the viewers, with one noting, "The music didn’t just accompany the film—it became its heartbeat."

“With this promising Annecy feedback, ‘Into the Mortal World’ proves that powerful storytelling, emotion, and production know no language or culture barriers, which also marks a meaningful moment of cultural exchange, signaling growing global interest in China’s storytelling voice and production on the animated world stage,” said from Winsing.
