As the European Film Market at the Berlinale 2024 was unfolding its tenth-anniversary edition, ORF-Enterprise hosted an exclusive screening of the first two episodes of the ORF Original Series "Kafka." This dark-humored exploration of Franz Kafka's life, directed by David Schalko, hit the big screen at the CinemaxX Potsdamer Platz on February 20.

The exclusive screening, attended by an audience of industry professionals, offered a glimpse into the unique world of Franz Kafka. The series, featuring Joel Basman, Liv Lisa Fries, and David Kross, provided a sneak peek into the celebrated author's life, love affairs, and friendships.

"The makers of the series have succeeded in realizing a complex subject in such an entertaining way. Seeing this visual spectacle on the big screen was truly impressive, and we look forward to firmly supporting 'Kafka' on its journey to audiences around the globe," says Armin Luttenberger, Head of Content Sales International, ORF-Enterprise.

The screening was followed by a panel discussion, which provided valuable insights into the creative process and the series' potential impact. Panelists at the event included: Christian Granderath, Head of Fiction at NDR (Germany), Klaus Lintschinger, Head of Feature at ORF (Austria), Daniel Kehlmann, author of the books the series is based on, and David Schalko, writer and director of “Kafka”.

The panel delved into the series' unique approach to Franz Kafka's life, the collaborative efforts of broadcasters ARD and ORF, and the international appeal of "Kafka." "The atmosphere at the event was truly wonderful. Witnessing the audience's enthusiastic feedback regarding 'Kafka' during and after the screening was immensely gratifying," summarizes Daniel Kehlmann.
