“Cartoons On The Bay”
“Cartoons On The Bay – International Festival of Animation, Transmedia and Meta-Arts” returns to Pescara (Abruzzo Region, Italy) after the past edition's success. From May 31st to June 4th, 2023, the Italian city will host the 27th edition of the event promoted by Rai and organized by Rai Com.
This year, the Festival, directed by Roberto Genovesi, will assign three new Pulcinella Awards that look to the future and the innovation of the industry: the Transmedia Award, the Meta Award, and the Arlecchino Award. The Transmedia Award is assigned to the brand able to lead the audience on multiple platforms thanks to powerful storytelling. The Meta Award is assigned to the brand able to immerse the spectator into a fascinating, stimulating, and safe digital world. The Arlecchino Award will be given to the creative product able to communicate best to the target audience the complex topic of gender diversity.
The Call for Entries will be open from February 1st to March 31st. The Festival also introduces a new category dedicated to kids aged 11+: Youth TV Shows. This new category will be added to the competition categories dedicated to Preschool TV Shows (2-4 yo), Upper Preschool TV Shows (4-6 yo), Kids TV Shows (7-11 yo), Youth TV Shows (11+ years), Interactive Animation, Live Action and Hybrid Shows, TV Pilots, Short Films and Animated Features.
The last edition counted 360 titles submitted, over 1000 industry professionals accredited to the event, more than 5000 participants to the shows, and thousands of students attending screenings and previews. "Cartoons On The Bay" aims to surpass these numbers with the 2023 edition.
