On Tuesday, 21st, Globo held an event at Content Americas to celebrate its 100 years of history, in addition to presenting the highlights of its portfolio and opportunities for the international market. Looking to the future sets the tone for the celebration of Globo's 100th anniversary, a milestone in the historical relationship Brazilians have with the thousands of stories told every day, whether in the pages of newspapers and magazines, on the radio, on TV screens, in movie theaters, on streaming, and on digital platforms.

A history that began when, on July 29th of 1925, the first edition of the newspaper O Globo arrived at newspaper stands in Rio de Janeiro, inaugurating what would become the largest media and communications group in Brazil. Founded by Irineu Marinho and led for decades by his eldest son, Roberto Marinho, the group considers the country's cultural richness and diversity as its main source of inspiration, becoming the place where millions of Brazilians meet and recognize themselves every day. In the international market, where it has operated since 1973, Globo's content has already reached more than 160 territories and has been dubbed into 70 languages. Recognized for its technical quality, the company has over 90 International Emmy nominations and has won 18 times.

Angela Colla, Head of International Business and Coproductions, spoke at the event about a partnership between Globo and Amazon Prime in Latin America. Globo's best-selling product in the international market, 'Brazil Avenue', is now available on Prime Video for all Latin American countries (except Brazil). When it comes to Globo’s portfolio, she highlighted “Crazy About You”, by João Emanuel Carneiro ("Brazil Avenue"), which is currently being shown during prime time on TV Globo. Angela also talked about "She’s the One", released for the international market during Content Americas, the series "The Others", and the documentary series "Robinho Case".

The executive also highlighted the company's focus on selling formats, mentioning the example of "Leyla", an international adaptation of "Brazil Avenue", currently airing in Turkey. In addition to "The Others", which was negotiated for Greece and German-speaking countries/regions, and "Justice: Life is not fair", for Greece. In the case of "Justice: Life is not fair", the production will be handled by Primavisione and broadcast via Alpha TV, which will also produce and broadcast "The Others". For German-speaking territories, one of the largest independent German production companies, ndF takes on the production of "The Others".

To conclude, Manuel Belmar, Director of Digital Products, Finance, Legal, and Infrastructure at Globo, highlighted some important moments in 2024, as well as the challenges for 2025: "2024 was indeed an incredible year. We managed to produce growth in both scale and engagement and continue to work tirelessly to bring the best content and experience to our members. As we step into 2025, we’re already reaping the rewards. Our first original Globoplay film "I’m still here" was recently crowned at the Golden Globe Awards, with Fernanda Torres winning Best Leading Actress;" expressed.

Belmar also commented on the possibilities of partnerships in the international market, reinforcing Globo's portfolio. "We trust these stories have great potential and, by approaching the right partners, we aim to expand Globo’s international footprint, taking our compelling narratives to new audiences worldwide. We believe that together, we can take these partnerships to a whole new level and transform the challenges of our industry into incredible success stories," he added.
