"Unconditional"
Keshet International has confirmed that it will unveil and showcase the drama "Unconditional" to buyers at this year’s London TV Screenings. Inspired by true events, the title is an eight-part international crime thriller produced by Spiro Films ("When Heroes Fly," "The Operative," "No Man’s Land") and created by Dana Idisis ("On the Spectrum," remade for Amazon as "As We See It") and Adam Bizanski ("Magpie") for Israel’s most-watched TV channel, Keshet 12.
As distributors of both the tape and the format of "Unconditional," Keshet International will officially launch the crime thriller to market at the London TV Screenings with an exclusive premiere of episode one, hosted as part of its Scripted Event on Wednesday, February 26, in Soho's Dolby Theatre. "Unconditional" is expected to premiere on Keshet 12 in Israel this summer.
Karni Ziv, Keshet Broadcasting’s Head of Drama and Comedy, who commissioned the series, says, "'Unconditional' is one of those special projects that hits so many sweet spots for us at Keshet. What starts out as an idyllic hyper-local story—an Israeli mother and daughter holidaying together—quickly descends into high-stakes crime, suspense, and intrigue on an international level, driven by the emotional story of a mother fighting for her child.”
Kelly Wright, KI’s MD of Distribution, explored the themes addressed by the title and the emotions it evokes: "Four years in the making, 'Unconditional' is, without a doubt, Keshet's biggest and most ambitious drama in terms of budget and scale. Set in the thriller territory for which Keshet is so well known, 'Unconditional' puts a civilian mom at the heart of the world of high-stakes espionage, making this drama instantly relatable. Steeped in intrigue, the series delivers on a brilliantly crafted script from top storyteller Dana Idisis. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Every parent will have deep, deep chills watching Orna and Gali's relationship play out across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, as the clock on Gali's freedom ticks ominously away. Just how well do we know our children? How far will we go to protect them—and will we do it at all costs? 'Unconditional' is the very best kind of drama—action-packed with thick emotional roots that grip you and don't let you go across a wild ride of a season," expressed.
In "Unconditional," a mother-daughter vacation turns into a nightmare when 25-year-old Gali (Talia Linne Ronn) is arrested for drug smuggling in Moscow. Her mother, Orna (Liraz Chamami), refuses to accept the charges—but her fight for Gali’s freedom pulls her into a deadly web of crime and corruption. As Orna navigates ruthless traffickers and shadowy intelligence operatives, she uncovers a chilling truth—Gali isn’t just an innocent victim. From the halls of Israeli power to the underbelly of Moscow and the Far East’s criminal empires, Orna is forced to question everything she knows about her daughter—and herself. With time running out and enemies closing in, Orna must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to save a daughter she no longer truly knows?
Filmed at various locations in India, Georgia, and Israel, "Unconditional" (8x60’) is created and written by Dana Idisis and Adam Bizanski and directed by Jonathan Gurfinkle ("The Accursed," "S#x Acts"). Led by Liraz Chamami ("Bad Boy," "Mamayek") alongside newcomer Talia Linne Ronn, "Unconditional’s" multinational cast includes French-Israeli singer-songwriter Amir Haddad ("The Baker and the Beauty" (France)), alongside award-winning actors Yossi Marshek ("Yellow Peppers," "Manpower"), Evgenia Dodina ("Invisible," "Virgins"), and Vladimir Friedman ("False Flag," "Shtisel"). This international thriller is produced by Spiro Films’ Eitan Mansuri and Jonathan Doweck (both "No Men’s Land," "When Heroes Fly") alongside executive producers Keshet Media Group’s Avi Nir, Keshet Broadcasting’s Karni Ziv, and KI’s Keren Shahar and Kelly Wright.
Titles previously showcased by the global content producer and distributor at the London TV Screenings include Kuma Studios’ Series Mania-winning "A Body That Works," which KI has now sold in nearly 100 territories; and Backmann & Hoderoff’s global thriller "Conflict," which secured six Hot Pick selections last year, recently smashed ratings records for MTV Finland, and KI has already sold to CANAL+ in France and Poland, AMC Networks International in Spain and Portugal, Telia Lithuania in Lithuania, Telia Estonia in Estonia, Tet and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons in Latvia, Free TV and HOT in Israel, and Now TV in Hong Kong.
