Through the use of its UNESCO World Heritage Site, Matera will host the first edition of the Audio-Visual Producers Summit, from 7th to 10th July. The new flagship event of the Italian and international audiovisual industry will span four days, offering insight from key media players from across the world. The executives will discuss various series productions, films for TV, digital platforms, and the global market of scripted production.

The event was made possible by the Lucana Film Commission, which collected operations requests and mediated institutions to better serve local businesses and their needs. The organization will hold its own session during the event, set to be moderated by the President of the Lucana Film Commission Roberto Stabile, along with other members, to discuss strategies to continue experiencing growth in the market.

Some of the executives chosen to moderate throughout the event include Sean Furst, Co-president of Film and TV of Skybound Entertainment, Ted Miller, Head of Global Television of CAA (Creative Artists Agency); Lorenzo De Maio, President of De Maio Entertainment; Nancy Cotton, Executive Vice President and Head of Scripted Programming for EPIX; Riccardo Tozzi, Co-founder and President of Cattleya; Luca Bernabei, CEO, Lux Vide and Gary Lucchesi, Producer for Revelations Entertainment and President emeritus of PGA.

The summit will begin with input from Sandra Stern, President of Lionsgate Television Group. Considered one of the leaders in the audiovisual industry in Matera, she, along with other participants, will highlight points to determine key issues in the production chain and possible ways of producing and financing international television shows. In international sessions such as the "Literary and other adaptations: current trends and emerging business models,” world-famous series producers will reflect on current trends and emerging business models of IP and other adaptations such as podcasts.

In the panel "Diverse Storytelling," leading related personalities will discuss the importance of inclusion on-screen. With the panel "Production Goes Green,” Avpsummit will host discussions about the PGA Green Production Guide, the main tool designed to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impact of the film, television, and streaming industry, followed by pointers from members of the green task force, among others.

The event will be concluded by “Shoot In The South.” During the showcase, the Film Commissions of Campania and Puglia, which joined the initiative, will have the opportunity to promote the territory and to show incentives and services at a regional level to support Italian productions. The region of Matera, set to be showcased during the event, will be used to shoot successful films such as “The Passion,” “Ben Hur,” “Wonder Woman,” “The Last Planet,” “Mary Magdalene” and “007 No Time to Die.”
