MIA 2020: THE FIRST PHYSICAL MARKET SINCE FEBRUARY KICKED-OFF IN ROME

This year's edition has attracted 1,400 participants from 41 countries: among them 600 international players, out of which 300 are on the evet's digital platform. At least 80% of the registered Italian players will attend the event in person.

MIA - Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo a key event in the whole Italian film and audiovisual system aimed at increasing products' exports, co-productions, and business relations at the international level, is back. The on-site activities in a safe and Covid-proof environment, thanks to protocols that will allow a full national and international participation at all meetings, will be further strengthened and accompanied by online activity, thanks to MIA Digital. The online platform, clear and easy to navigate, that will allow all participants exclusive access also to live events, as well as a digital access to all activities and services of the Market together with the possibility to browse a large catalog of original multimedia contents.

This year's edition has attracted 1,400 participants from 41 countries: among them 600 international players, out of which 300 are on the evet's digital platform. At least 80% of the registered Italian players will attend the event in person. Sergio Castellitto, Alessandro D’Alatri, Edoardo De Angelis, Riccardo Donna, Paolo Genovese, Marco Giallini, Lino Guanciale, Edoardo Leo, Gabriele Mainetti, Edoardo Pesce, Alessandro Preziosi, Matteo Rovere, and Paolo Taviani: these are just some of the renowned guests of the 2020 edition, a five-day event where MIA will present more than 123 new contents (under development and in production) in Pitching Fora and Content Showcases, for a global value of approximately 450 million euros.

An agenda with 137 screenings and projections will be added, 72 on-site at Cinema Quattro Fontane and 65 on the MIA Digital platform. As a tribute to the excellent work done by women in the audiovisual sector and on account of the ever-growing topic of inclusion and valorization of female work, most of the selected films will represent women's talent and will be presented by women directors.

MIA has been created thanks to a sound joint venture and a sound collaboration between ANICA and APA, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, ITA - the Agency for the promotion and internationalization of Italian companies and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, that have sponsored the event since its foundation. Our partners include also the Creative Europe Program - MEDIA, the Ministry for Economic Development, and the Lazio Region. Also, Unicredit; Apulia Film Commission; Fondazione Cinema per Roma; Eurimages has confirmed their collaboration; MIA will receive once again this year the contribution of the Editorial Board - a kind of working group open to all the industry's associations: Associazioni Audiovisive Italiane - 100autori, AGICI, ANICA, APA, Cartoon it, CNA, Italian Film Commission, Doc/it, LARA, UNEFA.

MIA and its team's reputation and credibility are shown also by the many prestigious partnerships both national and international, among which Sundance Institute, Hot Docs, Content London, Europa Distribution, EAVE, European Producers Club, Göteborg Film Festival – TV Drama Vision, TV France International, Unifrance, GZ Doc di Guangzhou, HAF Hong Kong Finance Market, Video Game Lab. MIA 6th edition will take place from 14 to 18 October 2020, in two historical buildings of Rome: Palazzo Barberini, the main venue, has been fully equipped to host meeting halls, branded stands, co-production meeting halls in complete safety and in compliance with the principles of environmental, economic and social sustainability. MIA is indeed one of the very few audiovisual events at the European level that, since its previous edition, can boast ISO 20121 Certification.
