Around 80 audiovisual industry professionals representing some forty Québec businesses will be travelling to Cannes to participate in MIPCOM activities under the Québec créatif umbrella of SODEC (Société de développement des entreprises culturelles). Highlights of the Québec presence at MIPCOM include four series nominated as competition finalists and many producers who have been invited to participate in the International Drama Co-Production Breakfast.

After winning Best French Foreign Fiction Production at La Rochelle’s Festival de la Fiction, the series "À propos d’Antoine" ("About Antoine"), produced by Podz (ComediHa! Amuz Distribution) has been nominated for the Diversify TV Awards in the Representation of Disability – Scripted category.

Two other Québec series that were recently honoured at the Gémeaux Awards, the most important TV awards show in Québec, are nominated for the Content Innovation Awards: "Cracké, la famille s’éclate" ("Cracké Family Scramble") from Squeeze Productions, is nominated in the Best Animated Kids Programme category. "Indéfendable" ("Indefensible") from Pixcom) won a Gémeaux Award for Best Daily Drama Series and is a finalist in the Best New Scripted Series Non-English Language category.

The series "Le lot du diable : la conquête de la mer" ("The Devil’s Lot: So Help Me Cod!" from Zone3 is a finalist at the International Format Awards in the Best Competition Reality Format category.

INTERNATIONAL DRAMA CO-PRODUCTION BREAKFAST
Québec producers invited to participate in this year’s International Drama Co-Production Breakfast include Josette Normandeau, president and producer at Ideacom International, Nicola Merola, president of Pixcom, and Michael Prupas, founder and CEO of Muse Entertainment.

SODEC is using its presence in Cannes to organize an exclusive event at which six Québec producers will meet six international buyers specialized in young people’s programming: Hop! Channel (Israel), SVT (Sweden), Paramount (Europe, Middle East and Africa), POP (United Kingdom), HR (Germany) and beIN (Middle East and North Africa). This initiative will take place as part of MIPJUNIOR a few days in advance of MIPCOM.
