The consulting firm The WIT, which annually highlights the most relevant productions in the international market, has selected two of the upcoming atresplayer original series among the most outstanding of the edition: “Mariliendre” (“Fag Hag”) and “Santuario” (“Sanctuary”). Both series are distributed internationally by Atresmedia Sales.
Thus, “Fag Hag” and “Sanctuary” have been two of the titles highlighted in the The WIT FRESH TV FICTION session, which took place in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
“Sanctuary,” in addition to being selected as one of the most outstanding international fiction productions, was also one of the shows that The WIT included in the THE WIT FRESH TV Spain showcase, a conference exclusively dedicated to Spanish titles, as Spain was the country of honor at MIPCOM 2024 this year.
This is not the first time that The WIT has highlighted an Atresmedia series in its list of outstanding fiction productions. It did so with "El tiempo entre costuras" ("The Time in Between"), the series that marked a milestone in Spanish fiction, by including it in the select Fresh TV Fiction list in 2013. That same year, they also selected "El Internado" ("The Boarding School") as one of the best series of the last 50 years. Other titles include "Mar de plástico" ("Plastic Sea") in 2015, "El Incidente" ("The Incident") and "Pulsaciones" ("Lifeline") in 2016, "La Valla" ("The Barrier") and "Veneno" in 2020, "Las noches de Tefía" ("The Nights of Tefía") and "Rabia" ("Rage") last year, as well as "Sueños de Libertad" ("Dreams of Freedom") in the previous edition of MIPTV 2024.
“Mariliendre” (“Fag Hag”) is an original atresplayer musical series produced by Atresmedia TV in collaboration with Suma Content, with Montse García and Andrea H. Catalá as executive producers, and Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi as producers.
“Santuario” (“Sanctuary”) is a production of Atresmedia Televisión in collaboration with Pokeepsie Films. Montse García, Álex de la Iglesia, and Carolina Bang are the executive producers of this fiction, while the executive co-production is managed by Lucía Alonso-Allende. Manuel Bartual and Carmen Pacheco are the creators and screenwriters, and Jorge Blas is the script analyst. “Santuario” will be directed by Rodrigo Ruiz Gallardón and Zoe Berriatúa.
