NAB Show (October 9-13) and the Consumer Electronics Show (January 5-8) have announced that they will be asking for all participants to provide proof of vaccination. The announcements follow a statement from Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, which indicated that large indoor venues in cities like Las Vegas and Reno will be allowed to opt out of the state’s mask requirements if they verify their guests are vaccinated.
“We will require all attendees and participants to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination. We think this is a positive step in reducing the spread of Covid-19, and will provide further details on implementation as well as other safety measures under consideration,” said Chris Brown, EVP & Managing Director, Global Connections and Events at the National Association of Broadcasters.
At the same time, Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), stated: “Based on today’s science, we understand vaccines offer us the best hope for stopping the spread of Covid-19. We all play a part in ending the pandemic through encouraging vaccinations and implementing the right safety protocols. We are taking on our responsibility by requiring proof of vaccination to attend CES 2022 in Las Vegas”.
Both NAB Show and the Consumer Electronics Show have developed digital platforms aimed to ensure that those who cannot attend the event in person can still be able to connect with the industry.
