This year, Deutsche Welle will not be holding the Global Media Forum, which was originally planned for July 6 - 7, 2020 in Bonn. It has been necessary for DW to take this decision in view of worldwide efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Between now and the next Global Media Forum, Deutsche Welle will offer digital networking opportunities to all friends of the GMF. We will use digital formats to promote discussions on this year's topic "Pluralism. Populism. Journalism." and create opportunities for interactions and exchanges within our global conference community.

As ever, we will use these means to drive the agenda in these turbulent times. You are all welcome to participate in these digital discussions. Deutsche Welle will provide information about our offers and content for this global, interdisciplinary conversation via our newsletters and on the Global Media Forum social media channels.

Save the date: Global Media Forum 2021

For the past 12 years, Global Media Forum has brought together more than 2,000 participants from over 120 countries each year. Planning a networking conference of this kind is not possible at present. It would have been a great pleasure for us to welcome you all back to Bonn again, and we certainly look forward to future opportunities to have you with us.

However, Deutsche Welle fully intends to host the Global Media Forum again next year as planned on June 14 and 15, 2021 at the World Conference Center Bonn. We would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite you to save the date.

We trust you will understand the necessity of this change to our plans, and sincerely hope to see you again in person at the Global Media Forum 2021 in Bonn.
