The launch of Disney+ in 2020 fundamentally changed the competitive landscape for streaming in Sweden in many ways – but perhaps most remarkably in the battle over families with children, according to Mediavision.
2020 turned out to be a year of new records for the streaming services in Sweden. More people than ever are paying for video streaming services, while viewing reaches new top levels, according to Mediavision.
In the past 12 months, Nordic households have signed up for close to 3 million additional streaming subscriptions, as concluded in a newly released analysis of the Nordic TV- and streaming market by Mediavision.
While 54% of all households in Sweden at the end of 2019 subscribed to at least one online video streaming service, annual growth was sluggish to the point of suggesting that the market may be maturing, according to Mediavision.
