Globo’s upcoming prime-time telenovela, "Mania de Você", is already in production with scenes being filmed at Estúdios Globo in Rio de Janeiro. The production includes scenes filmed in Portugal, covering Porto, Lisbon, and Linhares da Beira, as well as Angra dos Reis, a city with stunning beaches on the coast of Rio de Janeiro. Scheduled to premiere on TV Globo in September 2024, the telenovela will be released internationally in 2025. "Mania de Você" is created and written by João Emanuel Carneiro, with artistic direction by Carlos Araújo, the duo behind the success of “All The Flowers.”
"João Emanuel Carneiro is known for crafting surprising stories with characters who captivate the audience through their diverse facets. ‘Brazil Avenue’ is our top-selling product, and ‘All The Flowers’ is also making waves in the market, winning the Rose d’Or Latino for Best Telenovela, for example. We believe that ‘Mania de Você’ will be no different, and the telenovela will also win over the international audience,” said Fabio Mauro, Content Distribution and Partnerships.
The story will revolve around the friendship between two young women, Viola (Gabz from “Perfect Love”) and Luma (Agatha Moreira from “Hidden Truths”), who seem destined to literally enter each other’s lives. Born on the same day under very different circumstances, they meet years later, connected by coincidences that go beyond their shared birthday. A journey marked by both complicity and rivalry, placing them in a romantic quartet with Mavi (Chay Suede from “A Mother's Love”) and Rudá (Nicolas Prattes from “All The Flowers”), and shaped by a series of circumstances, twists, and surprises, including a secret surrounding a murder.
“This is a story about the lives of two women who, at times, are friends and at other times become enemies. This drives the story of the four protagonists and the characters connected to them. These encounters in life become ‘mania,’ an obsession. But it is also a story about universal themes, such as love and power,” defined Carneiro.
The cast also features names such as Adriana Esteves (“Brazil Avenue”), Alanis Guillen (“Pantanal”), Ana Beatriz Nogueira (“All The Flowers”), Rodrigo Lombardi (“Hidden Truths”), and Eliane Giardini (“Brazil Avenue”), among others.
