French production group Newen announced “The Wonderbox” has been awarded with the the 2020 Rose D’Or Award for “Best Studio Entertainment”. This year, the ceremony, hosted by comedian Nish Kumar, was held virtually.
The Rose d’Or Awards define the gold standard for excellence and achievement in entertainment programming. For this digital edition, 80 judges from across the television industry chose to recognize winners from over 700 programs submitted.
“The Wonderbox” is airing on broadcaster France 3 and has just premiered its second season. The show has been a ratings hit and has stirred interest abroad. Rights to the format have been sold by Newen Connect, the distribution arm of Newen, in Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and Portugal, as well as Wheelhouse Entertainment recently in the United States.
A fun feel-good series, “The Wonderbox” brings celebrities into a high-end, shiny floor environment, where they are then presented with different “Wonderboxes” full of surprises. It is the perfect opportunity for viewers to go on an emotional thrilling adventure with the celebrity, learning more about what makes them tick, between childhood stories and unknown passions.
