TV5Monde expands its reach in Germany through a Telekom deal

The channel has inked a new distribution deal with Telekom and will provide access to its best such as series, movies, documentaries, lifestyle magazines and news.

TV5Monde has stroked a new distribution deal with Telekom in Germany. The channel provides access to series with record audiences in their countries, such as French "Capitaine Marleau" as well as award winning movies, documentaries, lifestyle magazines and news from Switzerland, Belgium, Canada and France. All of which show the breadth of French-speaking culture across the world.

Diane Couderc, TV5Monde Director for Europe said: “We are delighted to return to Telekom in Germany. This deal consolidates our distribution in Germany and strengthens the partnership we have with the group in the rest of Europe.”

On the other hand, TV5Monde Europe, already available in Germany on all cable operators, has reached a new agreement with Telekom in Germany to expand its distribution to 4 million MagentaTV subscribers in the territory.

BECOMING HD
From June 1, 2020, the cultural channel TV5Monde is available to MTS pay TV subscribers in Moscow and the Moscow Region in HD format. Viewers will see the broadcasts of the popular European French-language channel in a new quality, while the usual program network and subtitles in Russian in a new format will be accessible.

In Russia, the channel is represented by THEMA, whose executive director Natalya Kabikova commented: “The demands of viewers on the quality of broadcasts are growing. And we are doing everything to meet their needs. We are pleased that our long-time partner MTS has the technical capabilities and desire to meet new trends, and that now they have launched broadcasts in the Moscow region in HD format. True connoisseurs of premium cultural content will be able to watch their favorite programs in the best quality.”

In June, TV5Monde will present a detective series "Helvetica", which won the Best Foreign Film of 2019 award at the La Rochelle Film Festival, a popular series "Mysterious Murders of Agatha Christie", documentaries about Versailles and the Champs Elysees and many other programs.
