Produced by  Dan Reed, the AMOS Pictures production was commissioned by HBO Documentaries and BBC Current Affairs. The show offers a forensic account of the storming of the US Capitol on 6th January 2021 taking as its focus the four-hours between 1 and 5 pm in which the Capitol building and the Senators and Representatives came under direct attack as they assembled to formally certify the US Presidential election.  Based on exhaustive research, this documentary reveals how the assault unfolded and asks the question – is the ideology that spurred the rioters still viral in America?

The documentary pieced together a clear timeline of events is portrayed by the personal stories of a wide-ranging cast of characters drawn from those involved on the day of the occurance, including The Capitol Police, DC Law Enforcement, legislators, politicians, and members of the tribes within the mass of rioters and protesters.  “This is a unique and astonishing story told through key participants and insiders, who together create a 360-degree view of one of the most incredible incidents Washington has ever witnessed,” Jonathan Ford, Managing Director, AMR, said. “The documentary, which has no voice over, relies on the dramatic retelling of the shocking events which resonated throughout the world, delivering a sobering view of democracy today.”
