German distributor Albatross World Sales has acquired Jan Haft’s newest documentary film “The Meadow – Paradise Lost?” (44’ or 90’ 4K) for international distribution. The title was released in cinemas in Germany in 2019 where it was among the three most watched German documentaries of the year.

“The Meadow – Paradise Lost?” shows the wonderful world that happened in the  meadow and  a 44-minute-version as well as the feature-length version is now available for TV and streaming worldwide.

What at first glance seems like an untended pasture covered with weeds is revealed through the lens of a camera as a vibrant and colourful universe: the meadow. Home to some of the most beautiful and bizarre creatures, the meadow provides the setting for their fascinating mating rituals, mysterious social interactions and the eternal circle of life and decay.

Albatross World Sales is also offering right now other interesting and captivating documentaries such as “Land of the Far North” (4K, 2x52' or 1x90').  The polar region – where eternal light and everlasting darkness take turns to challenge all animal and plant life, making this region one of the most extreme environments on the planet.

“Darwin in Times Square - The Science of Urban Evolution” (4K, 1x52') is a Nature&Science documentary that talks about the new roads, buildings and urban areas that eat up natural hábitats and sending plant and animal populations in worrying decline. How does nature react to this loss of biodiversity? Could cities also harbour a possible solution? Could they turn into incubators for nature to develop never-before-seen and fast responses to human encroachment? New gene research provides unexpected insights into Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.

Albatross World Sales’ catalog also has “Gorillas under Stress” (4K, 1x52'). At the end of 2018, great news went around the world: the number of mountain gorillas living in the wild has risen to more than 1000! A rare story of success in the protection of endangered species. But this success is bringing about new challenges. The last remaining mountain gorillas on earth live in only two habitats in Eastern Africa: Two small, green islands - surrounded by an area with one of the highest population densities in Africa. What happens if the number of mountain gorillas grows, but their habitat does not?.

“Out of Europe - A New Story of Human Evolution?” (4K, 1x52'). For the last hundred years, the development of modern mankind was primarily explained through the so-called Out of Africa theory. But in recent years bone finds, much older than the earliest finds from Africa, have challenged that belief. 7.2-million-year-old remains of a prehistoric human, Graecopithecus freybergi, and 6-million-year-old human-like footprints were found in Greece and presented in 2017. In November 2019, paleontologist Madelaine Böhme revealed to the world fossils of a newly discovered 11.6-million-year-old ancient ape, found in a clay pit in Southern Germany. The scientists argue that this new species called Danuvius guggenmosi, or ‘Udo’, is a common ancestor of humans and chimpanzees – a missing link sought after for decades by scientists all over the world. Together, these fossil finds challenge the fundamental idea of human evolution that two-legged walking only evolved in Africa much later. Does the history of human evolution have to be rewritten?.

Others main documentaries of the German distributor are "Cruising the Baltic Sea - A Summer on the Water" (HD, 5x52') and “Wineman - The Gálvez Guide to Intelligent Wines” (HD, 28x45'+ 6x30'). The first one is about the tourists that sail on a cruise ship to the Baltic Sea to follow the path of ancient Vikings or Hanseatic sailors and the second one shows Joaquín Gálvez using his (super)natural ability of communicating and captivating his audience with his innovative, charming and often down-to-earth (pun intended!) approach to wine.
