"Mountain Medic"
German pubcaster ZDF’s family series “Mountain Medic” and “Alpine Rescue“ will soon also enchant the audiences of Spanish audiovisual group Atresmedia TV. In detail, ZDF Enterprises confirmed that an agreement was closed with their long-standing partner Atresmedia for another 44 episodes and 2 specials of 90 minutes each of “Mountain Medic” and 36 episodes of “Alpine Rescue”. So far, Atresmedia has already acquired and successfully aired six seasons (76 episodes) plus three 90-minute specials of “Mountain Medic”.
The two series have been guarantors of high market shares for ZDF for many years, and have their share in the fact that the broadcaster has been German market leader for the last eight years in a row. Both series are produced by ndf.
“Mountain Medic” takes the viewers to an idyllic Austrian alpine town near the Kaiser mountains, where dramatic and emotional stories center around a mountain doctor. The series consist of 162 hours so far and achieved ratings on ZDF of 21.3%. 13 seasons are available and the 14th in preparation. On the other hand, “Alpine Rescue” (63x90’), soon in its 12th season, centers around a mountain rescue team, which responds to emergencies at dizzying heights. The series achieved ratings of 15.9% in prime time.
“We are delighted that these two extremely successful series have found their home in Spain. I am convinced that Spanish families will enjoy them as much as the Germans do, since they have the perfect recipe for family entertainment: suspense, adventure, love but also quote normal family issues,” said Robert Franke, VP ZDFE.drama for ZDF Enterprises.
