Boat Rocker, an independent, integrated global entertainment company, announced its scripted format sales capabilities in the Asian market are expanding. The company’s Hong Kong-based sales team recently closed a format deal in Korea with Next Entertainment World, the production studio behind “Train to Busan” and “Smugglers,” for Boat Rocker’s “Orphan Black.” In addition, the team recently brokered a format deal of a well-known third-party scripted title for a Hong Kong producer, which will formally be announced when the production team and cast is confirmed.

“We are delighted to have closed a deal with Next Entertainment World as we expand our focus in the Asian scripted marketplace with format sales, including representing third-party titles. There continues to be a strong appetite for premium scripted projects and we are looking forward to growing this line of business with our own award-winning IP and third-party content,”  said Henry Or, SVP of Strategic Partnerships for Asia at Boat Rocker.

Boat Rocker also announced content sales to leading Asian streaming platforms of multiple premium scripted series produced and distributed by the company. They include the critically acclaimed comedy “Slip” to Watcha (Korea), CatchPlay+ (Taiwan and Indonesia), and Now Studio (Hong Kong and Macau). In addition, the highly anticipated sci-fi drama “Orphan Black: Echoes” and sci-fi psychological thriller “Beacon 23” were sold to Now Studio as well.

Boat Rocker manages the “Orphan Black” global franchise, including content distribution and consumer products. The company also manages global distribution for a growing number of other premium scripted series, including “American Rust” and “Robyn Hood.”
