Channel 5 teams with 3DD Productions for new D-Day documentary "The Soldiers’ Story"

The two-part series is written and presented by best-selling author, Giles Milton and directed and produced by Lyndy Saville.

Ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day on 6 June 2024, UK broadcaster Channel 5 have acquired two-part documentary “D-Day The Soldiers’ Story” from 3DD productions. The 2 x 60-minute series is written and presented by best-selling author, Giles Milton who travels to the beaches of Normandy and locations in the UK to relive that historic day and directed and produced by Lyndy Saville.

The programme is rich with the research and stories of that day, including the amazing real-life experiences of Trooper William Gladden who, then aged 20, glided to his drop zone on that fateful day as part of the crucial mission to capture two key bridges. William now aged 100 recalls his extraordinary experience. The programme was funded by 3DD along with C5 and international pre-sales with TF1 Histoire, SBS Australia, A&E Germany, Telequebec Canada, RTV Slovenia, and Viasat World.

3DD and Giles Milton have worked together on other history programmes and are in development on a new series on Ancient History. IN addition, 3DD will be heading to MIP with this new documentary as well as their over 1000 hours of own produced content.
