Banijay Entertainment announced that "Fallen", the crime drama from the award-winning Swedish label Filmlance, has been renewed for a second season on TV4. Globally distributed by Banijay Rights, the emotionally-driven series has been sold to markets including France, Australia, and the US. The announcement comes as the Göteborg Film Festival TV Drama Vision gets underway.

"Fallen" is produced by Filmlance’s Sigrid Nordenhake and Anna Wallmark, with Lisa Dahlberg serving as executive producer at TV4. The directors are Johan Lundin and Linn Mannheimer. "Fallen" is a co-production between TV4, ZDF, Film i Skåne, and Filmlance.

Created and written by Camilla Ahlgren, the screenwriter behind the iconic series "The Bridge", alongside Martin Asphaug and Alex Haridi, the drama once again stars Sofia Helin ("The Bridge", "Lust", Emmy-winner "Atlantic Crossing"). In the upcoming season, Iris Broman (played by Sofia Helin) becomes increasingly comfortable leading the cold case team in Malmö. A fresh case, in which a body is found buried outside a mansion in Ystad, and another being tracked by documentary filmmakers, may potentially be connected. Meanwhile, just as the investigation is gaining momentum, Iris receives a message from her former colleague Adam in Stockholm, with unexpected consequences.

Hanne Palmquist, MD of Filmlance, praised the title: "'Fallen' is a brilliant example of a new type of crime drama coming out of Sweden, which is garnering international interest. Camilla Ahlgren has created an intriguing world with tender characters, and this, paired with the acting talent of Sofia Helin, makes for a premium drama for local audiences and beyond;" stated.

Led by Hanne Palmquist, Filmlance is part of Banijay Entertainment’s network of over 60 scripted labels. The company is behind critically acclaimed dramas and films for both local and international markets, including long-running hits "The Sandhamn Murders" (CMore/TV4) and "Beck" (CMore/TV4), as well as a slate of new series like "My Brother", a new 4-part drama for SVT to launch later this year, and recent successes like the award-winning "Ronja the Robber’s Daughter" with Viaplay for Netflix.
