Federation recently unveiled its most recent distribution project to be "Peter Doherty: Stranger in my own skin." “Stranger in my own skin is the documented tale of an intimate quest for paradoxical liberty, between spotlights and darkness, glitter and misery, pleasure and pain. It portrays a dandy lost in the XXIth century, but it’s never judgmental," Katia deVidas, director, said. "This is a movie about hope, about a man who must choose between healing or continuing life as a vagabond, painfully recording new songs that he dreams will redeem him. Stranger in my own skin is about this crossroads, this turning point in the quest of an artist reaching their own limits. Every character in this movie is atypical, unstable. The camera captures souls, looks, truths -mostly lost ones, along with intense moments of the sort that are usually hidden. I made this movie to make people aware of the consequences of addiction in human beings, whether you’re a rockstar or not.”
Co-produced by Wendy Productions and Federation Studios, the film is directed by deVidas, and co-written by Katia deVidas with Fernanda Rossi based on an original idea from Christian Fevret."Stranger in my own skin by Katie deVidas is an intimate and deeply sensitive movie. Through the unusual journey of Peter Doherty, the film speaks about addiction, and how our society deals with it, ultimately depicting how love and music can save you from the abyss," Myriam Weil, producer Federation Studios said. "This documentary has an international scope and is a moving portrait of Peter Doherty that also attempts to change the way we think about addiction. As with our Emmy nominated feature documentary, Nadia (by Anissa Bonnefont), we aim to resonate with the largest audience possible,"
The exclusive feature documentary telling the story of iconic British punk rockstar, Peter Doherty is pieced together with the help of Peter Doherty’s partner, Director-musician Katia deVidas, who has filmed over 200 hours of footage over a 10-year period. During the engrossing 90-minute documentary, we discover British punk rock singer- songwriter, and Libertines’ legendary frontman, Peter Doherty, as he plunges into the depths of addiction at the very height of his popularity. We experience, in the artist’s own words, Doherty’s moving and emotionally charged fight to overcome his demons and emerge from darkness back into the light.“The talent is the man and comes from the man and comes from the artist and doesn’t come from the drugs, and has never come from the drugs," Doherty said. "Part of the fun and the challenge of creating is to create in spite of circumstances, so, in spite of being a drug addict, or in spite of being clean. I will create."
This year, Doherty is touring across Europe alongside Frédéric Lo, as well as with rock band, "Peter Doherty" and "The Puta Madres." The Libertines are also currently on a world tour, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their cult album Up the brackets, which climaxed with a sold-out concert at Wembley (UK) just last July. Peter Doherty and Carl Barât are currently in the process of writing a new Libertines album. Peter Doherty: Stranger in my own skin will be launched at MIPCOM 2022, by Federation Studios, which holds worldwide distribution rights.
