Global film and TV studio Fifth Season has secured a major multi-title deal with the Latin American media tech company DirecTV across a raft of its premium scripted and unscripted content, with the newly acquired titles beginning to roll out on the exclusive entertainment channel OnDirecTV and DGO, live TV and streaming platform, from this month.
Key titles in the deal include BBC One drama “Best Interests”, produced by AC Chapter One in association with Fifth Season, written by BAFTA-winning Jack Thorne (“Help”, “His Dark Materials”) and starring Michael Sheen (“Good Omens”) and Sharon Horgan (“Catastrophe”, “Bad Sisters”); Big Beach’s “Sorry for Your Loss”, starring Elizabeth Olsen (“Avengers”, “WandaVision”); and both season one and two of thrilling Irish crime drama “Kin”, produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures. Award winning series “Kin” stars Clare Dunne (“Herself”), Charlie Cox (“Daredevil”), Aidan Gillen (“Game of Thrones”), Ciarán Hinds (“Game of Thrones”), Sam Keeley (“The Cured”), Emmett J. Scanlan (“Peaky Blinders”), Maria Doyle Kennedy (“Outlander”) and newcomer Yasmin Seky.
Travis Webb, SVP, Americas Distribution at Fifth Season, said: “DirecTV is a powerful entertainment brand across Latin America and recognized as the home of premium viewing experiences for local audiences – so it’s fantastic to be beginning this new partnership together as we continue to deepen our roots across the region. We have access to brand-defining content like ‘Kin’ – which has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and has been a massive ratings success in its native Ireland and the UK – and we look forward to giving DirecTV’s extensive subscriber base the chance to experience an array of our best-in-class global titles.”
Jennifer Moscat Calderon, director of content acquisition and OnDirecTV at Vrio Corp. (parent company of DirecTV Latin America, DGO and SKY Brasil), added: "We are thrilled about the new partnership with Fifth Season to provide our viewers across Latin America the highest quality content, featuring the best in scripted series, among other important titles. This content will enhance the varied entertainment programming offered by OnDirecTV and will be added to DGO, allowing our viewers to watch it anytime, anywhere from a computer, cell phone, Smart TV, or tablet."
These titles will premiere on the exclusive entertainment channel OnDirecTV, available on 201 & 1201 HD of the DirecTV programming grid, and will also be available on DGO, the company's live TV and streaming platform, to watch from a computer, a cell phone, a Smart TV or a tablet in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay. In Mexico, it can be viewed via DGO.
