The highly competitive marble racing show "Marble Mania" from John de Mol’s Talpa is already on a roll: the show has been commissioned by RTL Germany even before the first episode has been broadcast in the Netherlands (January 2021), on SBS6. “We are pleased to be the first international partner in the birth of John de Mol's new stroke of genius and look forward to a great show,” Kai Sturm, Head of Entertainment RTL, said.
"Marble Mania" features the most exciting marble races on brilliantly designed and built marble tracks. It’s marble racing at the highest level! Marble Mania is produced by Talpa Entertainment Productions. John de Mol, former founder of Endemol and Talpa Media, is known for his creations of global blockbusters like "Big Brother" and "The Voice". "The Voice" has won four Emmy Awards. His last company Talpa Media, founded in 2009, was sold to ITV in 2015. This year the cooperation ended, after which ITV renamed Talpa Media to ITV Studios.
Talpa Network exploits four free-to-air tv channels, a Dutch video platform, and a number of strong social media channels and brands. Talpa Network is also the market leader for radio in the Netherlands and active in the eCommerce business and print.
On each episode of "Marble Mania", three celebrities take each other on. Each celebrity gets to play with his own color marbles, so he or she can keep a perfect eye on how his marbles are doing in each race. Each round starts with a skill assignment, such as bowling, mini-golf or a special version of penalty shooting - all with marbles! The three celebrities need to prove their skills in order to win the most marbles to start the second game of the round: the game of luck. This game is all about speed and gravity. The celebrity whose marble crosses the finish line first earns the most points. After several rounds, the celebrity at the top of the ranking will get the most marbles to start in the finale, in which the celebrities can win money for a charity of their choice. The finale is the most breath-taking round of them all, with no less than 12.000 racing marbles!
