Global Screen recently acquired the drama series, "Hostage," a sequel of "Stockholm Requiem." The Swedish Kärnfilm AB and Belgian Lunanime co-production will be globally distributed by Global Screen, excluding home territories, Nordics, and Benelux. "'Hostage' is a series truly worth watching. It unites the suspense of a unique hostage-taking situation and a main character on the pursue of justice in a seemingly unjust world. The cast is very well chosen and Liv Mjönes is performing outstandingly," Julia Weber, Head of International Acquisitions & Sales at Global Screen said.

"Hostage" stars some of the most well-known Swedish actors in the lead roles: Jonas Karlsson (Black Mirror, The Snowman) and Liv Mjönes (Midsommar). Director Karin Fahlén and producer Martina Stöhr together form an outstanding team of female filmmakers and reveal exciting backstories about politics and personal relationships in their new production. The show follows FREDRIKA BERGMAN, a civil servant at the Swedish Department of Justice, awaiting a promotion whilst reviewing the case of SAID KEHLIFI - a Syrian academic arrested for obscure reasons by Swedish Intelligence agency SAPO.

When a plane is hijacked, Kehlifi is the prime suspect. Fredrika is brought in by Sapo's Eden Lundell to help the investigation and reunited with her ex-boss – retired police chief ALEX RECHT, whose son is on the plane. Eden and Fredrika immediately clash, and Fredrika becomes increasingly convinced that Eden may be more interested in hiding the truth than finding it. With the plane heading for disaster, Fredrika partners with investigative journalist Andreas Ekman, finding that Kehlifi and Eden may be connected by the mysterious Operation Tennyson.

"I’m hoping this is a story that can appeal to a broad audience on different levels both to entertain and to reflect. We want to challenge peoples’ preconceptual ideas of the reasons behind terror acts other than the obvious, religious and political ones," Director Karin Fahlén, Kärnfilm said. "We have told this story from a different perspective to show that things are more complex than they seem."
