Hemisphere Media Group has announced that Pasiones, WAPA América and CentroAméricaTV will be fully distributed across Cox Communications’ national footprint, joining their sister network, Cinelatino, also fully carried by Cox across the U.S. The three newly expanded networks are expected to be available to Cox Latino Pak subscribers in all markets by July 1, 2021.

Pasiones, the leading network for telenovelas and drama series in Spanish; WAPA América, the leading cable network targeting Puerto Ricans and other Caribbean Hispanics living in the continental U.S.; and CentroAméricaTV, the leading network for Central Americans living in the United States and the exclusive U.S. television home of the national soccer leagues from El Salvador, Honduras and Costa Rica, will now be available to Cox subscribers in New Orleans, Northern Virginia, Greater Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Central Florida, among other markets.

“The expansion of Hemisphere’s networks once again demonstrates the quality and strong value proposition of our offering and the strength of each of our networks which cater to specific underserved segments and populations within the Hispanic/Latino community with culturally relevant news, sports and entertainment programming,” said Alan J. Sokol, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hemisphere. “We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with our partners at Cox, and applaud their commitment to serving the Hispanic/Latino community with the highest-quality Spanish-language content and differentiated programming that provides our audiences with vital connections to their communities and native countries. Hemisphere remains steadfast in providing our viewers with content that truly speaks to them, and we’re confident that this expansion will help drive new subscriptions in critical markets.”

The leading network for telenovelas and dramatic series in Spanish, Pasiones features a robust mix of the most recent hits and everlasting international classics from Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, the U.S. and India, among others. Offering its audience innovative, multicultural and critically acclaimed content, Pasiones pushes against conventional expectations of what legacy telenovela and drama channels have historically aired. Coming up this month on the 31st, the network will premiere La Promesa, a hit Turkish drama focusing on the complicated relationship of two seemingly dissimilar young people from very different worlds and the tangled circumstances that tie them together.

Launched in 2004, WAPA América is the continental U.S. cable network arm of WAPA Televisión, Puerto Rico’s leading broadcast network, which boasts the largest news team and the most advanced news technology in Puerto Rico. A pioneer in super-serving the continental U.S.-based Puerto Rican community, WAPA América broadcasts approximately 30 hours per week of original news, with WAPA’s award-winning crew delivering around-the-clock reporting of all critical events affecting the Island, whenever the Puerto Rican community needs it most. The network also features entertainment programming, as well as movies, telenovelas and locally-produced ground-breaking content such as the network’s highly-praised documentary, “Sombras de Una Verdad” (Shadows of a Truth), tackling issues of race and classism on the Island. WAPA América has proven to be an indispensable, primary source of news and entertainment for U.S.-based Puerto Ricans, the country’s largest Hispanic group after Mexicans.

The first channel entirely dedicated to the Central American community residing in the United States, CentroAméricaTV is the official network for the U.S.-based Central American community, offering top rated programming from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama along with productions from cities with a significant population of Central American origin including Los Angeles, Washington and Houston. CentroAméricaTV features a variety of in-demand content for the third-largest U.S. Hispanic group, including: live news, talk shows, musical and cultural specials, as well as exclusive first division soccer games from the top Central American leagues, including the semifinals and finals of the 2021 Clausura Tournaments, airing in May.
