Hindi remake of “Ezel” debuted on Disney+ Hotstar

The Indian version of the Turkish drama is the first deal with Disney+ Hotstar for Eccho Rights and Ay Yapim.

Turkish drama series "Ezel" has been remade in India, launching on Disney+ Hotstar under the local title "Gunaah". Eccho Rights has additionally licensed the scripts for remake in several territories, with new versions commissioned in Mexico, Russia, Armenia, and the Romanian version, “Vlad”. The Indian version of "Ezel" is the first deal with Disney+ Hotstar for Eccho Rights and Ay Yapim.

The original Ay Yapim production, created in 2009, was part of the original wave of Turkish Dramas to travel the globe, sold to more than 150 territories worldwide by distributor Eccho Rights.

It is a unique story that will continue to thrill audiences for years to come!” Said Melis Hamamcioglu, Director of Digital Media Acquisition & Content Sales at Eccho Rights, who concluded the license with Disney+ Hotstar. Eccho Rights will also distribute the readymade rights for "Gunaah" outside of India.

"Ezel", produced by Kerem Catay for Ay Yapim, was written by Pinar Bulut and Kerem Deren. The series has won numerous presitigious awards, including the C21/FRAPA Format award for Best Scripted Format in 2012.

"Gunaah" follows the story of Abhimanyu, played by Gashmeer Mahajani, who embarks on a journey of vengeance after a betrayal. The series also stars Surbhi Jyoti and Zayn Ibad Khan. "Gunaah" is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar with new episodes dropping everyday from Monday to Friday.
